Chesebro Wines is the vision of Mark Chesebro, winemaker and winegrower, who owns and operates this 2k case per year labor of love in bucolic Carmel Valley, California. Intrigued by the idea of having an artisan goat and sheep dairy and being connected to the land, Mark bought this property back in 1990, intending to live a pastoral life of making cheese. Realizing that running a dairy is like having harvest all year round, he tapped into his previous winemaking experience and education from UC Davis, and began working at Bernardus in 1994. Eventually becoming winemaker, Mark remained until 2005 before venturing out on his own.


With lots of 300 cases or less, and a penchant for offbeat, as well as mainstream varietals, Chesebro’s production may be small, but the effort is prolific. Mark is passionate about true varietal expression, as well as preserving the true voice of each vineyard site, from soil to glass.

Tasting Room is located at 19 East Carmel Valley Road Suite D, Carmel Valley, CA 93924. Hours are currently Thursday- Friday 1 PM until 6 PM, Saturday and Sunday Noon until 6 PM.
